Hello friends,
On Sunday I was part of the paparazzi on the Red Carpet for the Gordesi Launch Experience at the World Cafe Live in Wilmington. Flash bulbs lit up the sky on this warm Autumn evening as Curtis Hutson was greeted and congratulated by many supporters, family members and friends. As I listened to them being interviewed by Connie Romano for Ambi’ance Magazine, I picked up on one common theme from each, #blessings.
You see, Curtis was not always a fashion designer, as a matter of fact in 1995, he found himself alone and desperate in a jail house cell. At the age of 30, he was incarcerated and had battled addictions to both drugs and alcohol. One day after falling to his knees in prayer he saw the word G.O.D. spelled out in toothpaste on his cell wall, he believed that was the key to his new life.
Unfortunately, five years later his life hit rock bottom so this time he prayed for God to end his life, but he had other plans. After being clean for twelve years, Curtis listened to God’s hints and started Gordesi: God’s Original Designs.
The Gordesi Launch Experience was much more than just a fashion show, there was entertainment by vocalist Sarah Kane, Aniya Jazz, Roderick, Lex Kelly and Grateful Dread, and the MC for the evening was Richard F Blackwell.
DeeJay007 had the audience up on their feet during the various intermissions even taking it back to old skool R&B and Hip Hop. You can hear a few snippets from the evening’s performances on my Instagram page.
However, the highlight of the evening were the models on the runway featuring the 2015 Spring/Summer Gordesi Fashion Line. Gordesi by CLH is the first and only urban lifestyle brand that dedicates 7% of its profits to charitable organizations locally, nationally and globally. The profits from this event were being donated to The Arthur J. Turner, Jr. Scholarship Foundation.
The World Cafe Live @ The Queen was the perfect venue for the Gordesi Launch Experience and their staff is to be applauded for the professional and courteous service provided throughout the evening. Unfortunately I was unable to stay the entire time so I missed the performance by Algebra Blessett which included a birthday celebration for Curtis, which I am sure was fantastic!
Congratulations Curtis, I wish you continued success in this and all your future endeavors.
A special thanks to Demia Avery, Co-CEO/Publicist of Avery Sisters Entertainment for inviting me to cover this wonderful fashion launch and also for bringing yet another high class event to the state of Delaware.

Hello friends,
last week I was almost attacked by an avalanche of shoes so I knew it was time to starting clearing out my closet. If you are a regular follower of DeDivahDeals, then you know about the weekly “You Choose the Shoes” feature on Wednesdays.
I have plenty of shoes but I can’t say the same for boots so this fall I will be on the hunt for the perfect pair of Cowboy Boots. I have been trying to find a thrifted pair but that’s like finding a needle in a haystack, so I am going online to Boot Daddy to find a pair.
A city slicker such as myself is only looking at the fashion of the boot, but there is a lot of history behind the original Cowboy boots, check out this infographic.
If you come looking for me, I’ll be deep inside my closet making room for my fall shoes as well as making room for a new pair of Cowboy Boots!
I might even have to take a quick trip to Texas and look up my friend Laurie from Pride in Photos. She is a fantastic photographer who also has a great eye for Cowboy boots!
How about you, is there a pair of Cowboy Boots somewhere in your closet?

Styles of the 60s
I was born in 1961, the decade known for free love, drugs, Go-Go Girls, Rock and Roll, The Vietnam War, Civil Rights, Hippies, the Birth Control Pill, The Peace Corp, Dr King, President Kennedy, assassinations, integration, Space Explorations, Cuban Missile Crisis, The Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits, The Beverly Hillbillies, Afros, Crew Cuts, and of course the vibrant and colorful world of fashion.
The Past Is a Blast is a website that has culminated fun and interesting facts about the ’60’s, including popular music, dances, sports figures, politicians even the minimum wage, which at the time was just a $1.00, go check it out.
I was too young to fully understand it all but do remember that I loved the fashion and styles of the ’60’s, the bell bottoms, platform shoes, neon colors, color blocking and pattern mixing…hey, isn’t that the style of today?
To learn more or reminisce about the 60s, here’s another website you can check out – The 60’s Official Site

What is your favorite blast from the past fashion trend? Mine was bell bottoms and Peace Sign jewelry.

Hello Friends and Happy Friday Eve!
This morning I woke up blessed but stressed which is not the norm for me. Before driving into work I stopped at Middletown Car Care to check on the status of “Miranda”, Tayair’s old car. We took it in last week for a diagnosis to determine if is was worth having it serviced and then given to Malik or not serviced and left on the lot to be sold. I don’t like being stressed or carrying a burden so I am going to relax, take a deep breath, exhale and then release it into the atmosphere.
Friday Eve and it’s not very Springy, it’s overcast and cloudy, a “jeans and t-shirt” type of day, but since I can’t wear that to work it’s a “two-tone dress” type of day.
How do you release stress?
Dress – Ross// Animal Print Peep Toe Shoes – Charmingly Linda’s Consignment Shop
I am stronger than my stress!
These legs really need some sun!
Earrings were a gift from an IBM manager that I supported in 1983!
Necklace was purchased from Flea Market vendor and then I used nail polish to add color to the stones

As with most stores, the fall fashions were in stock well before Labor Day to capture the back to school crowd as well as the excitement of updating our fall wardrobes. Rugged Wearhouse is a clothing store that has really stepped up their game. I remember years ago this store carried mainly jeans and t-shirts for young adults and school age kids, and although this is still their primary target the selection of women’s wear has greatly improved. To further entice the more mature buyer they recently introduced a Rewards Program. When you sign up online you will receive a card which is presented at checkout. The reward is $5.00 off your next purchase if you spend at least $25.00.
On this trip I did spend more than $25.00, and here are the items that I purchased.
Price point for these tops starts at $7.99
Price point for these dresses start at $12.99
Shoes are a hit or miss, depending on when they get a shipment, I saw several pairs of boots but wanted to wait because I couldn’t remember what I already had in my closet. I did however, get these purple ones because I knew I didn’t have any in this color and I liked the funky heels!
Shoe price point varies, these were $9.99
Accessories galore starting as low as $.99 cents.
I purchased 2 necklaces for $1.49, a pair of earrings and bracelets for $3.99 each.
Scarves and purses start at $4.99
