Saturday my oldest son had an appointment at Simon Eye Associates in Middletown. We are a family of four with three of us wearing prescription glasses, so the out-of-pocket cost can easily exceed $100 even with insurance co-pays. Hello Friends and Happy Friday Eve!
I was born in 1961, so it seems strange to use the term “throwback” when referring to the 1980’s, but it is. Today’s outfit is totally thrifted from GW Boutique (Goodwill) but from two different decades. The blue and white Houndstooth blazer was thrifted in 1989, which you can probably tell by the Dynasty/Falcon Crest shoulder pads. Remember when they introduced Dianne Carroll as Dominique Deveraux; or the pool fight scene or the first time the “B” word was used, or when they went crazy after Rock Hudson revealed he had AIDS? Man oh Manischewitz, that was definitely some “must see TV!”
The skirt and shoes were just thrifted last year however, the styles make them look a little dated as well. The white shell earrings were purchased at Rehoboth Beach also in the ’80’s and match the buttons on the blazer.

Hello Friends and Happy Hump Day Wednesday
Being outside this morning was a little more bearable because of the lack of wind however, the temps are forecast to remain in the teens until at least the weekend. To that end, I would like to say to all of my left coast friends …”STOP COMPLAINING BECAUSE IT’S 40 DEGREES!!!“
I truly don’t mind the cold weather because it allows me to dress in layers and then make adjustments as necessary. For example today I am wearing a sleeveless grey dress covered with a blazer so if I have a “personal summer” I can simply remove the blazer until it passes.
This outfit started with shoes but in the sunshine the tights took on a weird greenish tint so I changed to my OTK, black suede boots.
This black faux fur once belonged to my sister so you know it’s been around since the late 80’s – I really don’t like driving in it because of the bulk.

Living in New York in the ’80’s, I was always invited to “Purse Parties” and in addition to getting “designer inspired” bags on the low, it was a fun way to spend time with girlfriends. Hello friends and Happy Hump Day Wednesday. I am still playing catch up after a busy yet fun filled 3 day-weekend. I was off on Friday so after my mammogram I went to the nail salon and then to Rugged Wearhouse for gear to wear to Sunday’s Breast Cancer Awareness walk. Saturday was Homecoming at my Alma Mater Delaware State University, the classes of the ’80’s were in full force, I saw people that I hadn’t seen since graduating in 1983. The icing on the cake was the beautiful weather for the entire weekend – God is truly good!

Hello Friends and Happy Monday. I hope you all had an enjoyable weekend with a chance to relax. If you follow me on Instagram or Foursquare you know that I spent mine cleaning out desk drawers, shopping at Costco, Walmart and upgrading my Blackberry to a Smartphone at Radio Shack. This morning I spent way too much time trying to decide on a belt and eventually settled on one that I’ve had since college, sometimes it pays to keep things.
Remember when I purchased the the pencil skirt and top from Target (here). The shoes and cami were purchased at Ross.
