I hope you had a nice weekend and that your Monday was productive and stress free.
My weekend was nice starting with attending the C.O.D.E. Conference on Saturday, which was an awesome event for small business owners. Does your city or state provide free conferences or seminars for the advancement of their small business owners?
Sunday I didn’t attend church instead lounged around getting some much needed R&R and then afternoon shopping with my son which was a rare treat for me, he’s at the age when being with mom is not cool. I remember praying for a boy each time I was pregnant, but sometimes I wish I had a girl to shop with especially now that my grandmother is no longer with me. She and I loved to hang out…shopping for bargains…eating out …laughing…just having fun…I really miss her, which is why I started blogging.
This morning I heard birds chirping and the weather has been so mild. With little to no significant snow I’m hoping Mother Nature isn’t trying to lull us into a false sense of “it’s Spring”! Remember the catch phrase, “it’s not nice to fool Mother Nature”, well I hope she reciprocates.
Today I am wearing the Posh.mina that I reviewed (here) last month and because it’s one of my favorite colors it will definitely become a closet staple in high rotation.
Skirt – GW Boutique // Top – Boscov’s // Chinese Laundry Pumps // DSW
The screen was purchased a few years ago from Pier 1
Necklace – Flea Market Vendor // Coral Pearl Ring – Enjeanious By Rean // Earrings and Bracelets – Jewelrybox // Watch (large) – Avon // Watch (small) belonged to my grandmother and I wear it everyday
I was born in 1961, so it seems strange to use the term “throwback” when referring to the 1980’s, but it is. Today’s outfit is totally thrifted from GW Boutique (Goodwill) but from two different decades. The blue and white Houndstooth blazer was thrifted in 1989, which you can probably tell by the Dynasty/Falcon Crest shoulder pads. Remember when they introduced Dianne Carroll as Dominique Deveraux; or the pool fight scene or the first time the “B” word was used, or when they went crazy after Rock Hudson revealed he had AIDS? Man oh Manischewitz, that was definitely some “must see TV!”
The skirt and shoes were just thrifted last year however, the styles make them look a little dated as well. The white shell earrings were purchased at Rehoboth Beach also in the ’80’s and match the buttons on the blazer.
Romantic Soles Blue Pumps – GW Boutique // Blue side slit skirt – GW Boutique // Blue and White Houndstooth Blazer – GW Boutique // Ring – Avon // Earrings – Rehoboth Beach shop // Bracelets – Burlington Coat Factory // Tote – Target // Scarf – old
This morning’s church service was blessed with a sermon by a visiting minister from Wilmington, and visiting guests from a small neighboring church in Middletown. A great way to start off the week and I am looking forward to an even more blessed work week, I hope it’s the same for you!
Before Church
Black and White Peplum Dress – Ross // Red Blazer – Closet Staple // Black Pumps – Mossimo via Target // Purse – Closet Staple // Necklack – Mark via Avon // Ring – Icings
After Church
Comfy Capris – Rainbow Shops // Top – Delaware State University Bookstore
It’s the day before Valentine’s Day, do you have anything special planned…will Cupid be shooting any arrows your way? I’ve never been big on V-Day and prefer to get my candy the day after when it’s half price – lol Hubby and I may go out to dinner Friday night and I bought my sons a card and some candy from Dollar Tree, otherwise nothing special. I guess when you are single and dating, Valentine’s Day is more of a Holiday, but I tell my men everyday that I love them and the 14th of February will be no different.
I am still wearing red in honor of “America Goes Red for Women” month and will wear a wee bit more tomorrow.
We are expecting snow but not until this evening so I decided to wear my grey, suede booties to pick up the color in the shirt.
These Bamboo faux fur trimmed booties were purchased a few years ago from Burlington Coat Factory and despite their “ugliness”, they are quite comfortable.
Necklace – New York & Company // Rhinestone Buttefly Ring – Icings // Top – Old Navy // Skirt – Boscov’s // watch – Avon
I must admit that I am looking forward to eating a least a piece of chocolate tomorrow!
In your area you may have noticed that some businesses have added convenience features to attract new customers or to increase the satisfaction of their current ones. Food Lion recently installed an MVP Savings Center kiosk that prints out coupons specifically designed for their shoppers based upon previous purchases. Once you swipe your MVP Card or key in your telephone number the kiosk prints a personalized sheet of coupons that must be used the same day. Our last name was incorrectly spelled on the sheet but it didn’t matter because as a coupon clipper these added savings definitely helped with my grocery budget.
I was there to pick up a few items so I only used two coupons, $1.00 off Oreo Cookies and $1.00 off two packages of Oscar Mayer lunch meat both of which were on sale which was a double savings. The personalized savings sheet also included a $4.00 off /$45.00 spent coupon which would have come in handy had this been one of my weekly grocery shopping trips.
PNC Bank has also updated their ATMs, with the acceptance of cash deposits which is a plus for people with Home Based or Direct Sale businesses. There are times when an Avon customer pays in cash and I’d like to deposit the money instead of spending it, now I can. I’ve read that there are ATMs that will dispense coins, a feature for those who may not have a hefty account and needs just a little cash to get through the day or week.
Small changes that make a big difference is a win-win for everyone!
It’s mid-week, the temps are rising and the sun will be shining – all is good in the neighborhood! Dark and dreary days really take a toll on the mind and body, which is not good when trying to lose weight. I need to step up my Zumba workouts and cut back on the carbs so that my clothes fit better…this skirt is tight!
Both the skirt and top were thrifted from GW Boutique (Goodwill). The top was made in Hong Kong and has a very unique design with the metal rectangles sewn onto the front.
Wearing my “Betty Boop” Polka Dot Pumps from Ross
Changed dark tights for nude tone pantyhose and added scarf

I’m not sure if you’ve seen an Avon catalog lately and if not, here’s just a taste of what you’ve been missing. As an Independent Sales Rep for Avon for over 15 years I’ve seen many changes all of them good. Avon is a company that has been in business for 125 years and has changed with the times without sacrificing the quality of their products, however, it is no longer your grandmother’s Avon – check it out.
