The Delaware Blogger was on MadHouseTV
Most of you know that I host a weekly Podcast, Social Media Sunday with the Delaware Blogger, which is live every Sunday at 6 PM EST on Blog Talk Radio for AAU Teen Talk Radio/TV/Magazine. The last live broadcast for the year was on Sunday and the topic was Social Media and the Church, it was my 15th Podcast and I must admit that when I first started I was unbelievably nervous. The shows on the 26th of December and 1st of January will be encore programs so if you missed them, make sure to log on to listen.
The show’s Executive Producers are Roger and Chevrona Johnson and they are also the CEO’s of the Whitney E. Johnson Foundation. I am very appreciative to both of them for giving me an opportunity to host my own Podcast, but was even more so when offered the opportunity to take the show on the road and host it live on cable at Madhouse TV Studio in Long Island, NY.
With everything scheduled for last Thursday, hubby and I drove from Middletown, DE to Long Island, NY which by the way was definitely not an easy trip, but that’s another story for a different day. However, I was able to drive the 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Ultimate AWD which I was reviewing for Hyundai via Drive Shop USA so it wasn’t a bad ride.
Arriving at the studio a little past noon, my guest, Nikki Valentine, owner of N.V.Me Designs and her models were already inside busy preparing for the 2:00 show. Check out my Instagram page to see pictures of everyone getting ready as well as some great memorabilia inside the studio owned by Tommy Maher, aka The Woodstock Guru on Facebook.
Nikki and I were able to run through our script which we had previously written when she came to “shop my closet” the week before which you can see on my YouTube Channel. The topic of our segment was “Balling on a Budget – Outfits from the Office to Party Fab” and she and her models did a great job in featuring these outfits.
The link to the broadcast is below, so check it out and then come back and leave a comment as I am anxious to know how you liked the show. I hope Chevrona liked it as well as I would love to go back for another segment.
This is also going to be the last blog post of the year as I shut down DeDivahDeals and transfer it to DelBlogger and when I come back in the New Year, there will be great reviews and giveaways – so enjoy the holidays and be safe!!!
Don’t forget to leave a comment with your review of the show and let me know if you would like to see me back on Cable TV!
Thank you all for your support in 2016 of
Social Media Sunday with the Delaware Blogger
Look out for more great live Podcasts and exciting guests in 2017.

I am rebranding my blog, not only changing the name from DeDivahDeals to DelBlogger but also with a new website design effective January 1st.
To promote and advertise the change as well as to kick off the new year, I will be hosting weekly giveaways, so stay tuned as these items are going to be part of one.
Chime in, which item would you like to get in your stocking?
Disclosure: I was provided with a Google Pixel Smartphone from Verizon in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are 100% my own.
How many of you remember when the car phone – aka- mobile phone – aka – cell phone turned into a Smartphone and using it to make actual phones calls has become almost obsolete?
Just text me…snap a selfie…check in on Foursquare…read an email…check Social Media stats…Facebook…Twitter…Instagram…read my blog…Hello Siri GPS navigation… uploading videos…Livestreaming…Snapchatting and of course the constant picture taking of food, friends, and fun!
So when I had the opportunity to review this new Google Pixel Smartphone I decided not to use it as a phone for making calls or for checking into social media or even updating my blog but solely as a camera instead.
“Content is King” and “Images are the Queen” so it is vital especially as a blogger to capture attention grabbing, eye popping pictures and I have to admit this Google Pixel exceeded my expectations!
I decided to leave my Nikon Coolpix at home when I headed to the Summit Marina last weekend to capture these amazing pictures overlooking the C&D Canal.
These photos were in no way touched up nor did I add any filters, I just emailed and uploaded them to my laptop. With the Google Pixel you can get unlimited storage of all your photos and videos free in Google Photos which is definitely great for leaving your legacy in the cloud!
You may remember last month when hubby and I came here to the Marina for another photo shot and the weather was still warm and gorgeous. However, this time, I was there alone and it was cold so I didn’t stay long, besides those Turkey Vultures didn’t seem too happy to have me around.
The Google Pixel Smartphone is smaller and lighter than my Samsung Galaxy Note 5, however, the pictures are bigger and brighter. There are actually two versions of this Android smartphone, the Google Pixel and the Google Pixel XL
I loved that the Google Pixel weighs only 5.04 oz and the 5 inch screen was the perfect size for viewing VR apps without needing my glasses. I had recently purchased a Virtual Reality Headset so I downloaded a few free VR apps from the Google Play Store.
The Google Pixel sat nicely in the headset and because it’s lightweight it was great for walking around “taking a tour of NYC” as well as riding a virtual rollercoaster. The display on this smartphone is bright, sharp and with the vivid colors, watching some of the VR movies was like being in my own private screening room!
The battery life on the Google Pixel is amazing which is very important especially as a blogger who may need to cover an event lasting hours. Not having to search for and then stand next to a power outlet was great for capturing these pictures at a Girls Night In event hosted by my friend Roxie in Middletown.
Other great photo features on the Google Pixel include the ability to just double tap a button to turn on the camera and a double twist to change to selfie mode. Videos can also be shot in 4K resolution and the powerful speakers were perfect for listening to music and watching DIY videos on YouTube.
There are also many other features that the Google Pixel is equipped with and below are just a few of them. However, if you are looking for an Android Smartphone with awesome visuals then you need to head over to a Verizon store and pick one up!
Oh, and the Bright Light Flashlight is perfect when navigating a parking lot or a college campus at night. Speaking of college, you know that I had to take a selfie with my son before he headed back to his after Thanksgiving!
On a recent Podcast, “Social Media Sunday with the Delaware Blogger” we discussed Twitter for Small Business because many small business owners still don’t understand why they should be on this social media platform.
I actually had a client say that Twitter was dying and that it was old fashioned…not sure why he thought this, but I invited him to listen in to the Podcast in hopes of changing his mind.
Not only do I, but several other social media strategists feel that Twitter is the #1 social network because it is truly social. On Facebook, your are limited to an established circle of friends and family. But everyone is fair game on Twitter. I can jump in and out of all sorts of conversations with people I’ve never met—I’ve made connections with my best blogging sponsors this way.
What is Twitter?
Twitter is a microblogging network of real time posts that are limited to 140 characters or less, however, at one time they wanted to change it to make it unlimited characters and Twitterverse lost it’s mind. What they did do was change the algorithm so that images do not count as part of the 140 characters.
Twitter’s demographic is geared more towards the younger generations, however, that doesn’t mean that the older generation are not using it as a matter of fact, Twitter is my favorite social media platform.
Unfortunately, many boomers and seniors are using it in the wrong way and I won’t mention any names. (DT)
You may remember that I once said that, “Twitter are the friends that you wished you had in high school” versus Facebook which are like the friends you did have in high school.
I made that statement because, you can establish relationships and followings with the really cool kids, not to say that the people you connect with on Facebook aren’t cool, they just aren’t the really cool tweeps. For example, I remember my first celebrity follower was Kimora Lee Simmons, she started following me because I had made a comment about a beautiful family photo that she had posted online.
I was so over the top excited that little ole me from Middletown, DE was recognized and followed by a real celebrity. Unfortunately, it was short lived because after I posted one of her purses that I bought from a local discount store she inquired as to where I got it. I responded but the next thing I knew, the store was no longer carrying them!
The power of Twitter and network marketing was solidified for me on the day, I guess she didn’t appreciate having knock offs of her bags being sold at discount.
You don’t have to be uber famous like Kimora Lee Simmons, Justin Bieber or even Ellen Degeneres to get a decent following and if you’re a small business or brand, Twitter will actually help bring in new customers. It has been proven that 64% of Twitter users are more likely to buy from brands that they follow on Twitter.
How to get Twitter Followers – What is your mission statement ~ Who is your ideal customer ~ Tell them why they should follow you
When using Twitter for business it’s important to ensure that you are getting followers that are relevant to your topic, so you need to balance out your activities to get those numbers versus activities aimed at just getting mass quantities of followers. Remember the SNL skit with the Coneheads, they were an alien family that just wanted to get mass quantities of everything.
Whether you are looking for stay at home moms, which is hashtag #SAHM, millennials #millennial or a blogger in Delaware #DelawareBlogger, putting the hashtag in front of the word or phrase when searching on Twitter will provide you with an avalanche of people to follow which can increase your audience exponentially once you start following them.
There are awesome places to connect with others including celebs especially if they are promoting a new project like Oprah and Tyler Perry. When the OWN network went live followers were chatting up a storm and yes, I have been retweeted by both Oprah and Tyler. I think my most famous follower now is Dick Gregory.
Twitter is less focused on “What you are doing” like on Facebook and more about “What’s going on around you in the world”.
What Should I Publish on Twitter?
The key to being successful on Twitter is sharing the right information, whether it’s your own links or other content.
“Do what you do best then link to the rest!”
