Hello Friends and Happy Fri-Yay!
Welcome to the Weekend Wind-Down Party (#WWDParty)
I am definitely glad to see this week end because between hubby’s hospitalization and my stomach virus this has definitely been a heck of a week. I am glad for the weekend even though I need to start working on my 2013 income taxes, yes, I said, “start”. I don’t know where the time went but it snuck up on me too quickly this year.
I finally got a chance to check out everyone’s posts Tuesday night and needless to say, if my stomach wasn’t messed up, I would have been drooling over some of those decadent desserts!

This has truly been an exhausting week and I’m glad that in less than 24 hours it will officially be the weekend!!! Hubby is doing well and should be home from the hospital early next week. In the meantime I am enjoying the little break, I only have to make my side of the bed and the bathroom is all mine – lol!

Independence Day: The Federal Holiday in the United States that commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, when a budding nation of 13 colonies declared its independence from Great Britain. Now celebrated and associated with fireworks, parades, barbecues, carnivals, fairs, picnics, beach trips, concerts, family reunions and concerts.
Delaware, one of the original colonies to revolt, celebrates up and down the state with activities the whole family can appreciate and participate in.
So what are your plans for today?
Eating?
Drinking?
Grilling?
Chilling?
Whatever it is – be safe and enjoy!

I was born in 1961, the decade known for free love, drugs, Go-Go Girls, Rock and Roll, The Vietnam War, Civil Rights, Hippies, the Birth Control Pill, The Peace Corp, Dr King, President Kennedy, assassinations, integration, Space Explorations, Cuban Missile Crisis, The Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits, The Beverly Hillbillies, Afros, Crew Cuts, and of course the vibrant and colorful world of fashion.
The Past Is a Blast is a website that has culminated fun and interesting facts about the ’60’s, including popular music, dances, sports figures, politicians even the minimum wage, which at the time was just a $1.00, go check it out.
I was too young to fully understand it all but do remember that I loved the fashion and styles of the ’60’s, the bell bottoms, platform shoes, neon colors, color blocking and pattern mixing…hey, isn’t that the style of today?

What is your favorite blast from the past fashion trend? Mine was bell bottoms and Peace Sign jewelry.
Remember this DIY jeans project?

Hello Friends and Happy Christmas Eve Eve!
This afternoon #2 son and I went to Costco and Target and it was a crazy madhouse, I left tired with a headache and empty handed (too many crying babies). I have one more day to get a gift for #1 son and do my grocery shopping for the week so I will be up and out early tomorrow.
Last night I attended a Holiday slash “Obama Victory Party” hosted by a member of a OFA team who touts themselves as the ones who gave a Pennsylvania victory to the President. The hostess has a beautiful home that was fully decorated with the sights and sounds of the holidays. The dining room table was festively set with delicious foods and sweets and Poinsettias filled each room. It was a wonderful mix of guests and for a few hours we bonded, sharing stories, laughs and genuinely enjoying each other’s company. It was a lovely way to start off the holiday weekend and for that I say, thank you Delores!”

Heading out for the night

I hope you guys have a wonderful night – Smooches!

Hello my friends, it’s FRI-YAY…FRI-YAY and the last day of summer 2012. It’s bittersweet saying goodbye to summer but all is all it was good filled with fun, food, family and friends. I must admit that I am looking forward to a new season equally filled with fun, food, family and friends – we just got an invite to Thanksgiving Dinner – woot woot!!!
So whatever your plans are for the 1st weekend in fall, whether its hiking; biking; thrifting; shopping; apple picking, Holloween decorating; baking, raking, sleeping; cooking; cleaning; eating or just vegging in front of the tv, I hope it’s fantabulous!!!

Every time I see red and white gingham my mind takes me back to the family picnics we had as a child. Whether it was at Bear Mountain, NY or Silver Lake, DE spreading that red and white tablecloth across a dirty wooden table meant a day filled with FOOD, FUN, and FAMILY!
One year a bunch of us kids got lost in Bear Mountain and we were scared to death that a real bear was going to eat us (child’s imagination running wild). We roamed around the woods for what seemed like hours, scared and arguing over which way was the right one back. Eventually we found our way and none of the adults seemed to miss us so we didn’t get into trouble and life was good again. Things got even better when we saw that red and white gingham tablecloth covered with FOOD – hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken, corn on the cob, potato salad, chips, Kool-Aid, cookies and watermelon! We ate until we got sick and made a pact to never venture into the woods ever again – aaah more wonderful childhood memories!
