Is Goodwill Still A Good Deal?

I remember the days when you could purchase clothing at Goodwill for 1 or 2 dollars.  Of course back then, thrifing wasn’t as popular or considered a chosen alternative to department stores.  There were always vintage boutiques where you expected to pay more, but never at Goodwill – not until now.  Here are a few items that I found at Goodwill in Thorndale, PA which ranged in price from $3.50 to $5.00, this location also receives unsold shoes from Target which is a good deal.

Pink Lois Snyder Dani Max Vest

Jaclyn Smith Beaded Gauze top

Mint Peek & Peck Collection Capris
replaced a pair I thrifted but were cut too low in the waist / re-donated to GW

Christopher & Banks Purple, faux suede maxi skirt

Cambridge Country Denim Skirt
I am going to bleach to give it a tie-dye effect

Blue and White stripped Maxi
will wear around the house or as a beach cover-up

Lapis skirt
same style as one purchased at Marshalls

I remember when these were the “it” shoes for the Spring from Target

New with tags

If you purchase shoes from GW, make sure to disinfect them using alcohol, bleach/water or disinfectant spray or all 3 – I always spray new shoes as well.

variety Is Goodwill Still A Good Deal – YES!

Madden Girl at Marshalls

I stopped at Marshalls to once again return a pair of shoes that I had purchased in March but never wore, thank goodness I always keep my receipt. I checked out the latest styles of Steve Madden/Madden Girl shoes which are my #1 favorite.

My 2nd favorite styles – Jessica Simpson

never heard of the brand but they were too cute not to take a pic

OOTD – Miss Match Monday

Yesterday I was so busy and exhausted after cleaning out the crawl space after a minor plumbing problem that I didn’t follow my Sunday evening routine. Normally on Sunday nights I prepare my outfits for the week, they are pulled, matched and hung neatly on the outside of my closet door. In the mornings I don’t have to worry about what I am going to wear or waste time trying to match shoes and accessories which for me is vital because I definitely am NOT a morning person. In addition to not having my outfits prepared, I had a restless night thinking about Malik going to an amusement park with his friends today. Can’t imagine why I am so anxious but I can now appreciate how my grandmother felt every time I left the house when I was in High School. I prayed that they have safe passage to and from the park and he did send a text that they had arrived safely.

Now on to today’s miss matched outfit which I didn’t notice until after viewing the pics – not one color in this shirt matches the pants!

OOTD – Tropical Punch

Once again we have been blessed with a beautiful, sunny day and to top it off it’s FRI-YAY!! Traffic this morning heading north was light because most people are heading south to the Jersey Shore – thank you my friends!! This afternoon I may not be so lucky with the south bound traffic heading to the Delaware beaches. Where ever you are headed this weekend I hope that you have a fan-tas-tical, fun in the sun time with tropical drinks that have tiny little umbrellas in them – be safe my friends!!

OOTD – I Can’t Believe It’s Hump Day Wednesday

When the work week begins with a holiday it seems like the rest of the week just flies by ~ I can’t believe it’s already Hump Day Wednesday.

This skirt was thrifted and I was attracted to it because of the graduated colors as well as the elephant and giraffe prints. I was going to wear it with a sleeveless tank but instead paired it with this reddish-burgundy top purchased from Marshalls or Ross. The bronze Pesaro sandals are a closet staple and are my go-to slip on-s when I don’t want to wear higher heels.

OOTD – BoHo Blue

Yea, today is my “FRI-YAY” because tomorrow I am off from work for my monthly staycation day.  Tayair and I will hit up the DMV early to renew his license and then have his car inspected.  I would love to go to the movies but  with schools being closed the last thing I want to do is stand in a long line for  MIB3, even though I want to see it – I love me some “Big Willy from Philly”!

I spent my lunch hour at Charmingly Linda’s Consignment Shop for her Memorial Days Blowout Sale and got some great buys that I will post later.  While there I assisted  a customer in selecting a dress and accessories for a wedding, it was a blast acting as a “fashion consultant”, it just might be my retirement career!

The official start of summer and yet it was another rainy overcast day, but we are blessed to have lived to see another one so the complaining stops here.  Have a fan-tab-u-lous day!

Saturday Night – Date Night

Last night hubby and I attended a birthday party for one of his fraternity brothers (Omega Psi Phi) in Wilmington.  The party was held at a small club in town and it was almost like a mini Delaware State College reunion.  A Kappa Alpha Psi party was also going on downstairs and I saw a few brothers that I knew from college.   The catered food was excellent and the crowd was warm, however, we left earlier than midnight because I wanted to go to church in the morning.

The dress was purchased on clearance from Macy’s last August but I never wore it.  My husband’s suit, shirt, shoes and suspenders are his normal work attire however, he chose to go without a tie for a more casual look.
