OOTD – Turquoise Thursday

Hello Friends and Happy Friday Eve!

Delaware dodged the snowstorm bullet yesterday, we only got a little rain and heavy winds and today the sun is shining with temps hovering above the 40 degree mark.  Next week’s forecast call for highs in the 50’s to low 60’s, Spring is right around the corner, and more sunlight with the start of Daylight Savings Time on Sunday – don’t forget to “Spring Forward”.

Today’s outfit includes the color turquoise, a color that I like in clothing but not in jewelry.  Turquoise, The Gem of Native Americans was very popular in the 60’s and early ’70’s,  it seemed as though everyone had a big Turquoise ring or necklace, both men and women.  Sapphire Green is supposed to be the “it” color for Spring, but Royal and Cobalt blues are my favorites as well as the lighter shades like turquoise because of their calming effects.

JC Penney Clearance Sales

Do you remember my previous post about the clearance sales at JC Penney?  Did you go?  If not, I suggest you go there as soon as you can.  Today I went back to return the $5 skirt and ended up getting 2 more, a Worthington black and white tweet and a pencil skirt; a patterned scoop neck top and a Comfort Revolution sports bra for a grand total of $12.00!

There are $3/$5/$10/$12 and $14 clearance racks in every department, men/women and children clothing, jewelry, accessories, shoes, purses, lingerie, housewares, etc.  If you need a last minute Valentine’s Day gift, get to the mall with a quickness  because you will definitely get more for your money!

These pics were taken when I stopped in last month.

OOTD – Black and Burgundy

Hello Friends and Happy Friday Eve

Are you ready for some snow? If so, “tonight is the night…is the night…is the night” at least it’s supposed to be in southern Delaware. Fortunately, they are forecasting less than an inch so the commute home may not be too bad.

Today’s outfit, Black and Burgundy is featuring a pair of Merona pumps and Mossimo belted pencil skirt from last night’s haul at Target.Image

If you follow me on Instagram (ablake48), you’d know that I start my mornings with a healthy, green, breakfast smoothie.  Today’s smoothie was made with spinach, carrots, banana, almond milk and Chia Seeds.

ImageI am so loving these heels, I may stop and get another pair in Taupe!

Boscov's and New York & Company Clearance Sales

I very rarely if ever pay full retail price for any article of clothing or accessory and I rarely if ever shop at the stores in the mall. However, yesterday was one of those rare occasions because I stopped at Best Buy which just happens to be next door to the Concord Mall. I love the various clothing lines at Boscov’s but you really have to take your time because of how they have them set up throughout the floor. It was late and I was heading out the door but a 75% off clearance sign grabbed my attention. I only spent a few minutes going through a few racks and purchased 3 items, totaling $32.74.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

NY Collection Embellished top with bat wing sleeves ($48.00) on sale 5.99

Brown Premise Pencil skirt ($58.00) on sale $14.50

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Chaus knit top with faux leather shoulders ($49.00) on sale $12.25

No matter how hard I try, I can never seem to find anything at H&M, but at New York & Company it’s a different story. Not that I needed more jewelry, but when the sign reads 80% off, it’s too hard to resist! I purchased two statement necklaces one in red and another in blue for $4.59 each, original price was $22.94.

Leopard print casual sweater ($36.95) for $11.08, and sleeveless green top ($36.94) for $7.39

If you are looking to add more jewelry to your collection, I suggest you check out New York & Company – I may go back because they are sending me a coupon for completing the survey printed on the receipt!

OOTD – Thrifted & Target Tuesday

Hello friends and Happy Tuesday before Thanksgiving

Yesterday, after work I met with two representatives from The Money School of Delaware.  They had read my post, “From Purses to Portfolios” and were so impressed that they offered me an opportunity to create their blog as well as host various training webinars.  Attending events and writing about women’s issues mixed with the fashion and savings was exactly where I wanted to take this blog.  Now that this has come to fruition so quickly I want to thank God for I am truly blessed and look forward to working with some great people at The Money School.

I will keep you posted as to when it goes live because it will be separate from my dedivahdeals blog.

OOTD – 1980’s Belt

Hello Friends and Happy Monday.  I hope you all had an enjoyable weekend with a chance to relax.  If you follow me on Instagram or Foursquare you know that I spent mine cleaning out desk drawers, shopping at Costco, Walmart and upgrading my Blackberry to a Smartphone at Radio Shack.  This morning I spent way too much time trying to decide on a belt and eventually settled on one that I’ve had since college, sometimes it pays to keep things.

Remember when I purchased the the pencil skirt and top from Target (here).  The shoes and cami were purchased at Ross.

Linking up today with Tough Cookie Mommy – hop on over and read a new blog.
