Autumn Activities ~ How Do You Mark The Change In Seasons?
Fall doesn’t officially begin until 10:29 tonight, but over the weekend I got a jump start with some Autumn Activities. I finished clearing the pool deck, cleaned and removed the seat cushions, put away the patio umbrellas then pulled out my large Pumpkin floral arrangement. However, my most favorite Autumn activity begins in the kitchen, with baking and Crock Pot meal making.
Two weeks ago while shopping at Super G I noticed a large selection of Pumpkin Spice products so I decided to pick up a box of Cake and Muffin Mix and a pack of Pumpkin Spice Pudding. Personally we are more of a Sweet Potato Pie eating family but I keep hearing about Pumpkin Spice this and Pumpkin Spice that, so I decided to give it a try.
I made these cupcakes using only two ingredients, Pillsbury Perfectly Pumpkin Cake Mix and a can of Libby’s Pure Pumpkin. What’s the verdict? I am now a Pumpkin Spice lover. First of all I would never have imagined that you could make a cake or cupcakes using only two ingredients and have it be flavorful, I was also afraid that it would taste like pumpkin pulp.
The mix was a bit thicker, more of a muffin consistency which is why the tops are peaked so the next time I will only fill half the tin. Not only were these cupcakes moist and tasty, the added topping of Buttercream frosting and sugar sprinkles had me pouring a tall glass of cold milk – yum yum good!
My next Autumn baked dessert will be Cranberry Bread! “can ya smell what I’m cookin?” Oh, and I found these Pumpkin Spice Sweets Terra Vegetable Chips, they are nestled in my floral arrangement – and I am looking forward to trying them as well. So now that I’m hooked on Pumpkin Spice do you have any recommendations?
How do you mark the arrival of Autumn?
I linked up with the SITSGirls Back to Blogging Challenge, so go check out some other great Autumn posts.
Stay Blessed ~ No Stress in 2014!
I have a drink to salute the departure of summer and then start thinking about recipes for autumn like chili and pumpkin bread 🙂
I can’t tell you how happy I am that fall is finally here! Those cupcakes look amazing and I definitely can’t wait for the leaves to begin changing colors and walk through the leaves in a stroll through the park. I mark the beginning of Autumn by baking as well and putting up my reef, love redecorating for the seasons.
I am reluctantly looking forward to Fall only because I haven’t worn all of my summer clothes yet! However, I will enjoy the cooler nights and the beauty of nature as it changes. Thanks and Happy Autumn 2014!
I mark it by coming to your house for pumpkin muffins! <3
I’ll start the tea kettle!
OH, yes I forgot about the pumpkin desserts to look forward to…my drool is starting.
And I bet your girls and lil man are waiting for some Pumpkin Spice Cookies and tea!
Libby’s Pumpkin is a CONSTANT in my pantry! I am obsessed – every day can be fall for me, even though…. It’s like 90 degrees in Los Angeles right now! LOL!
Really, this is my first purchase…gotta check out some of your other recipes!
OMG I remember when there was a Libby’s shortage one fall, I about died and bought them out like the world was ending TOMORROW!
Oh gurl, you are hilarious!!
This looks so yummy! Thanks for visiting my blog today!
Thank you and you are welcome!
Your cupcakes look yummy. I love both sweet potatoes and pumpkin. For a long time I avoided trying pumpkin pie, but once I gave it a try I loved it too. Sweet potato pie is still my favorite, but having a can of pumpkin pie makes it easy to whip up a pie on short notice. I want to try the Pumpkin Spice Vegetable chips. If I need a snack while I’m running around town I will indulge in the Sweet Potato chips that are from the same line. I figure if I’m going to eat something bad like greasy chips I should at least choose sweet potato over regular potato 🙂
So true, and with my long daily commute (3 hours), I am always on the look out for healthy snacks. I’ve never tried Pumpkin Pie but may give it a try this season, we usually have Sweet Potato or Bean Pies for the holiday.
Oh they look tasty!
To mark Autumn, I start using the oven again (it leaks heat so we don’t use it during the summer – it heats the apartment too much!). Also, I’ll be making sweet chestnut jam soon too, and collecting wild mushrooms!
oooh, sweet chestnut jam, you will be posting the recipe I hope!
I will! 🙂
I decorate the house for Fall with my Halloween decorations and light up my pumpkin candle – YUM!!!
Oh that sounds great, I’ve never tried a pumpkin candle, where did you purchase?
Your cupcakes looks very yummy! Please ship me one! 🙂
I wish I could, but I am sure that you and the ladies will be baking some delicious treats soon!
I love apples and pumpkin! I can’t wait to go apple picking (we are doing it this Friday). Those pumpkin flavor chips sound good.
That looks like pumpkin heaven to me! I welcome Fall by breaking out pumpkin EVERYTHING!
Lol…can you smell what I’m cookin’ – Happy Autumn
