Hello friends, I hope all is well in your world.
The heat is on and the struggle continues, dressing Corporate Casual in July and August while staying cool can be challenging. However, wearing a sheath dress is just one way that keeps me cool all summer long.
A sheath dress is very transitional, in the early Spring and Autumn I will wear a blazer or cardigan over top, and because of the scoop neck in the Winter I’ll wear a turtleneck underneath. But in the heat of the Summer it’s just cotton undergarments and open toe-sandals!
It can be difficult to stay cool when the temps rise above 80 degrees but just thinking about last winter’s snow storm helps!
Burlington Coat Factory has a large selection of sheath dresses and they are all reasonably priced. However, Ross Dress for Less and of course Goodwill are other places that I’ve also found a good selection of them.
The best thing about a sheath dress is that it’s flattering to all shapes and sizes and can be worn by woman of any age. Patterns makes it easy to accessorize as not much is needed when the print is busy.

Staying cool in Corporate Casual during the summer sizzle is a breeze if I wear light, loose fitting fabric that allows air circulation, is sleeveless and a pair open toe sandals and for that I am thankful!

How about you, do you love sheath dresses as much as I? If so, I’d love to see a pic so send one and then at the end of the month I’ll do a ‘Summer Sheath Sizzle Roundup” which will include a surprise GIVEAWAY
This week I am thankful for my family, my friends and of course my faith. I am thankful that my son is home and recovering nicely and I am thankful for a cool breeze every now and then!
Now it’s your turn, what are you thankful for this week?

Hello friends, I hope all is well in your world.
Here we are again at another week of “You Choose The Shoes” and I am delighted that so many of you have commented that you look forward to this weekly feature. Trust me, I am enjoying it as much as you are and since I have so too many pairs of shoes, this is going to last for quite some time, at least until the first snow fall.
Now last week might have been a “gimme” because of the statement I made about the black and white sandals from Avon, so you know who won right?

This week’s contenders are once again regulars to the party, they are Avon versus Target
Open toe versus closed toe but they are both patent leather.
This is one of many sheath dresses purchased from Burlington Coat factory and tomorrow’s post will be featuring more of these summer sheath dresses.
Are you ready to choose, will it be the purple and black color block pumps from Avon
– or –
The black patent leather pumps from Target?
Yes, they are both comfortable and in cases like this, I wish I could wear them both! So let’s take one more look shall we…
Leave me a comment below with the pair you chose and why, then come on over and visit the ladies at Whitney’s Personal Style Linkup, see ya later.

Hello ladies…sorry guys but I am just talking to the ladies today, we’ll chat later.
If you are a women of a “particular age” as Wendy Williams likes to phrase it, and you are premenopausal or in full menopause, you know how difficult it can sometimes be getting dressed when it’s hot. I keep a fan in the bathroom because there have been days that I’ve overheated just putting on my makeup! In May the weather was fluctuating but now that we are officially into the summer season choosing just the right outfit for work is getting a bit harder.
Personally I like wearing sleeveless tanks and sheath dresses all year long and the panty hose and tights are gone as soon as the boots come off. Fortunately at work we can dress casually, however, it is still Corporate so there definitely will be no shorts, crop tops or flip flops.
These are just a few outfits that I’ve worn during the warm Spring weather, next week I will feature my sheath dresses for the summer sizzle.
Thrifted denim dress with Avon accessories
Thrifted blouse and skirt with flats from Marshalls
Thrifted dress and belt, shoes from Avon
Maxi Shirts
Like it loose and carefree
Totally Thrifted
Weekend Wear
Let’s Chat: What are your warm weather wardrobe must-haves?
BTW, I didn’t forget it was Thankful Thursday. Despite the extra pounds and hot flashes, I am thankful to still be living a stress free and healthy life. I am thankful that my son has been moved from the Intensive Care Unit and should be coming home tomorrow. Of course I am always thankful for my family, friends and my faith. Come on over to Katherine’s Corner and share some of your Thursday Favorite Things.
Now it’s your turn, what are you thankful for this week?

Hello Friends and Happy Tuesday!
Last week after reading a post on the Fabulous after Forty blog, Palazzo Pants – How to Wear Them with Pizazz, I wondered if they are still a popular style for women over 50, because they certainly are for me.
I have several but this particular pair was purchased a few years ago from Ross and are great to wear to work on Casual Fridays.
I remember wearing wide-leg or “elephant” leg pants with platform shoes back in elementary school in the 70’s. I also remember almost falling and breaking my neck walking along a stone wall after my shoe got caught inside that big a$$ pant leg!
Now here I am over 40 years later wearing almost the same style, thankfully the legs aren’t as wide but my question is, “are Palazzo pants still popular or have they played out?”
I’ve worn these pants in previous OOTD posts, but this is the first time they are paired with this thrifted top from Goodwill.
The watch and ring/bracelet are Mark/Avon.
The cut-out sandals are also from Avon, they have really stepped up their shoe game over the years.
So what do you think, are Palazzo Pants still popular or are they Played Out?
This month I’m hanging out with the BloggyMoms and Personal Style Linkup with Whitney – come on over and join in on the fun!

Hello Friends and Happy Hump Day!
The winner of last week’s “You Choose the Shoe” was the
Polka Dot Pumps from DSW!
Now it’s week 2 so it’s time for you to choose this week’s shoe, and no, I haven’t gotten a pedicure yet so don’t look too hard!
Will it be the blue Fioni Pumps from Kmart
or
Grey Pump from Ross Dress for Less?
Both the top and skirt has been in my closet for such a long time that I can’t remember where purchased. I think the bracelet set was purchased either at Rugged Wearhouse or Burlington Coat Factory.
Have you decided yet?
Look down at the shoes…
…Now look up at the outfit
Okay, Which Shoes Did You Choose?
The winner will be revealed next week!
I’ll be linking up with Whitney Nic James, so come on over when you get a chance.

Hello Friends and Happy Goodwill Wednesday!
I wore this end-of-the-season outfit in March, but with all the activity at the end of the month I didn’t get a chance to post it. This is officially the last of the winter wardrobe pics because today it’s going to be 70 degrees…time for a pedicure because the boots have been put away!
Everything was thrifted from Goodwill at different times and from different locations so it was fun putting it all together.
Even though I wore a short sleeve blouse, there was still a slight chill in the air so I opted to wear the brown suede jacket which was also thrifted.
Of the entire thrifted outfit, I like this unique thick belt the best, what do you think?
Remember how excited I was to finally find a pair of Riding Boots, and to find them new at Goodwill for only $18.99 was awesome. The hooks on the back gave them an edgier look which made it a better thrifted find.
Now it’s time to go through my closets and purge items that I did not wear last season or were much too tight thanks to menopausal weight gain or perhaps too much winter wine. Anywho, whatever I find will be re-donated back to Goodwill which is the best part of thrifting.
Today I’m linking up with one of my favorite thriftinistas over at ColorBlind and then I’ll swing by to see DC Goodwill Fashionista so if you get a chance, come on over and check out their thrifty finds.

Hello Friends and Happy Tuesday
Last Thursday I was up bright and early, well it actually wasn’t that bright, but it was early. I wanted to welcome in Spring and get a jump on wearing less clothing, mostly in particular no tights or hose.
After dressing quickly I rushed to the door to check out the weather, although there was still snow on the ground it wasn’t blustery cold as it had been only a few days earlier.
“Hey Spring, come on in, stay awhile, we’ve missed you!”
It felt good not to have to wear tights or hose and to be able to put on a short sleeve T-shirt was even better. I purposely thrifted this black T-shirt after seeing Ms. Looking Good in her white one. Prior to reading her post, I would have never thought to wear a t-shirt with a skirt or even to work, but I like the look – what do you think?
You remember these thrifted black patent leather ankle shoes. The geometric skirt was a clearance sale bargain from JC Penney. The necklace and earring set is from Jewelrymax.net, they have some great costume jewelry.
Have you ever been inspired by another blogger’s outfit?
What are you looking forward to shedding from your winter wardrobe?

Hello Friends and Happy Hump Day Wednesday
Can you feel it? Can you smell it? Can you hear it? Spring is right around the corner and the temps are rising, the air is clearer and the birds are chirping louder! Spring fever is definitely in full effect.
Last week I wore this totally thrifted outfit which was perfect for that in-between weather going from winter to spring.
With a little snow still on the ground, I opted to wear tights to keep my legs warm. I am anxiously looking forward to shedding them and breaking out the open toe shoes and then the sandals!
How cute are these ankle strap wedges, and the patent leather reminds me of my Easter shoes as a kid. Did you ever have a pair and they squeaked when you walked and you would shine them with vaseline?
In addition to the shoes and tote, these Goodwill goodies includes the skirt, top, belt, and blazer – an entire outfit for less than $20.00 ! #winning
The fact that this outfit matches the bench makes it even better, now let’s just hope we don’t get any more snow this winter! Today I’ll be blog hopping with Whitney Nic James, Thrifter’s Anonymous and DC Goodwill Fashionista.

Hello Friends and Happy Fri-Yay!
Today is the 2nd week of the #WWDParty, and the link will be live at 6:00 p.m. So after you get home and wind down, come back and share a link or two of any of your posts from the week.
One of my favorite fashion blogs is FreeUrCloset and this week Nensi featured “How to Layer Like a Pro” which I wanted to try but am by no means a Pro! I can’t wear a lot of layers because I’m warm by nature and menopause definitely doesn’t make it any better so this is what I came up with.
Layer 1 and 2 if you count the Infinity Scarf
Layer 3 is the vest. Believe it or not, this Cable Knit Sweater once belonged to Gloria, my sister so that makes it at least 25 years old!
Boots | Rugged Wearhouse // Handbag | Mark by Avon
Infinity Scarf | Burlington Coat Factory
Reversible Vest | Old Navy
So what do you think – semi-Pro?

Hello Friends and Happy Hump Day Wednesday
My husband usually takes an interest in what I wear to work, even though he complains that I have too many clothes. Our schedules overlap with him leaving before I wake, and when I get home he’s downstairs working out and I’m anxious to change. On Sunday when he asked what I had chosen I reluctantly said, “pants, because of the snow”, he knows I prefer to wear dresses and skirts to work and jeans or pants on the weekends. Most if not all of my skirts are thrifted, they are the first things I look for at Goodwill.
Even though it’s the winter season and we are dealing with snowstorms and extreme temperatures I still like wearing skirts to work and will simply layer up with tights, boots and sometimes even Long Johns!
Faux Suede Boots // Rugged Wearhouse
Animal Print Maxi Skirt – Goodwill
Of course I’ll wear a long coat but I am quite comfortable in a skirt during the winter.
How about you ladies, do you wear dresses and skirts in the winter?
I Feel Pretty warm in my boots as does Alison, so come on over and join in on her Link Up today.
