In my house crock pot cooking isn’t just for fall and winter months, it’s actually more convenient and a real time saver in the warmer months. After work the last thing I want to do is turn on the oven or stove especially when it’s hot like it was yesterday. I would prefer to walk into the house to a fully prepared meal smelling good! Using the crock pot gives me more time to sit on the “back 40” or take a walk around the neighborhood.
These were the ingredients for Monday night’s dinner.

1 bag of frozen mixed vegetables
2-3 chicken breasts
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can of cream of chicken soup
1 jar of mushrooms
Pam Cooking Spray
You can use any cream soups

Spray Crock Pot with Pam or any cooking spray
Put in frozen veggies
Top with chicken breasts or thighs
I cut up an onion and added the mushrooms
You can use dried onions if you don’t have fresh

Sprinkled a dash of seasoning and dried thyme
Covered chicken & mushrooms with soups
Cooked on low for 7 hours
If desired, add a cup of uncooked white/brown rice when you get home

Poured in a cup of long grain rice

Turned off crock pot, stirred in rice, recovered and let sit for 30 mins while I changed my clothes

Dinner is served - I sprinkled mine with cayenne pepper

This past weekend most of my neighbors and friends were outside working on their lawns and gardens. Willey Farms in Townsend was one of the places to be as they are stocked with annuals, perennials and lawn ornaments.

Marigolds $2.20 - 3.79

Bird Baths, Urns and other garden ornaments were plentiful

Thank you Wanda for taking and sending these pics, it has motivated me to get started on my garden!

Another beautiful day the Lord had made with temps reaching a balmy 79 degrees! Earlier I was painting the deck floor in anticipation of the relaxing dog days of summer. It was a 3 hour dry time so I decided to do my grocery shopping – no need to watch wet paint dry.
I haven’t taken the time to get out my summer clothes and could only find exercise shorts so I decided to wear this cool and comfy maxi dress which hangs in my closet year round.
Maxi Dress – Ross last season
Sandals – purchased to long ago to remember

Today I purchased a box of Flat Iron Beef Steaks from Schwan’s and tonight I grilled for the 1st time this year. Along with a potato also cooked on the grill my sons had a great Saturday night meal!

After leaving Smyrna, we drove further south to the Goodwill store in Dover. I stopped first at the cemetary to lay flowers for my sister, uncle and grandmother. I was a bit apprehensive when first approaching Goodwill as I hadn’t set foot in that store since 1992, when I picked up my sister’s last pay check. We didn’t stay long and I only purchased a few items but this store does have a lot of new items from the local mall and grocery stores in the area.

It had been years since I was in Dover on a Friday and even longer that I was at Spence’s Bazaar the local Flea Market. In 1974, I was a teenager when we moved to Dover and Spence’s Bazaar was the place to go on weekends including renting a table to sell your old stuff. Coming from New York, I didn’t know anything about selling at a Flea Market and to this day I remember the woman who bought all of my Barbie’s and accessories for $5! She ripped me off big time, most of my Barbie Dolls were circa 1950’s and she knew better , I only hope her life was miserable after that- seriously!

Fresh Produce is the best buy at Spence's

If you need it, it’s probably in one of these boxes!

At Flea Markets you can find everything – clothing, luggage, bags, hair accessories, albums, dolls, toys, memorabilia….EVERYTHING from soup to nuts!

T-Shirts and men’s clothing

Wanda found a nice hair pin
I love vendors with costume jewelry – I purchased these necklaces for $1.00 and the ring for $3.00.

New with tag, $1.00

New with tag, $1.00

They had several colors, new with tag $3.00

Colors of Spring

Vendor and his “Princess” where I purchased a cute color block purse for $10.00

Love this purse!
I had to hit up the ATM machine which almost stole my money to make 1 final purchase. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the vendor was an old high school friend of mine!

Lolita’s table was filled with Presidential and Sports Memorabilia so I purchased an item of each.

Bought this Eagles neckroll pillow for my son
It was a great day at Spence’s Bazaar in Dover and I will definitely be going again on my next staycation day.
