Still Sleeveless in the Summer
Can you believe the summer is quickly coming to a close, sooner rather than later it will be Labor Day. At the end of last month the weather finally heated up with temps in the 90s so dressing through a flash became a bit more difficult. As you can see I am still sleeveless in the summer…it’s hot…remember this post?
These sleeveless sheaths are my favorite go-to dresses when I have to change more than once in the morning. This particular one was purchased from Burlington Coat Factory and the busy pattern is very flattering to all shapes. These two-tone shoes are from The Shoe Department and I had almost forgotten that I had them…too many shoes!
Hubby is getting through chemo but not without the side effects so you may notice a difference in my OOTD pictures as I am doing them myself with a timer. I ask that you continue keeping him in your prayers as he pushes through his cancer treatments. I really miss having him behind the camera, but believe that we will both come out stronger on the other side!
I hope you are all staying cool and will continue to have a beautifully blessed day!
Are you still sleeveless this summer?

You Choose the Shoes – Episode 13
Can you believe that it’s August and it’s almost time for “Back to School” Back to College”? I have two sons returning to college, one will be at home and the other one away, but it still seems like the summer flew by.
I just found more summer totes and purses under my bed! I have so many more pairs of summer shoes to wear – where did the time go – I am not ready for the warm weather to end!
I am not going to fret, but I may have to double up on the “You Choose the Shoes” episodes!
Both of my sons are working, so back to college shopping won’t break my budget this year – thank you Amazon Fulfillment Center and UDairy Creamery!
Malik has bought most of his “wants”, so we just have to hit the store for a few of his needs, ie. laundry detergent and sheets but not too much since he has most of what he needs from last year.
I will however, be hitting up Family Dollar for his health and toiletry products because they have a large assortment of name brand items for low prices. Check out next week’s post to see what I purchased.
This week’s contenders are both cutout wedges – yellow verses white. If you remember, I also have the first pair in Pink, and I will try to wear them before the end of the month in an OOTD.
I love wearing wedge heels as opposed to kitten or high heels because they give more support and makes walking a little easier.
What is your favorite style of shoe?
If you didn’t realized it by now, this just happens to be one of my favorite thrifted dresses not only because of how it fits but because of all the great colors!
So which one will it be – the white wedges….or
the yellow wedges?
Thank you all for your votes in Week 12, the winner was the solid red pair.
Are you ready for Back to School?

Dressing Through a Flash #menopause
Getting dressed in the heat of the summer while experiencing the hot flashes of menopause is no joke. Sometimes my morning routine is like a solo, female version of an Abbott and Costello skit!
Just check out this exaggerated routine from earlier this month:
Put on black sleeveless dress thrifted from Goodwill, pull out white belt also thrifted…grab black and white necklace purchased from Walmart and big floral ring. Get white plastic bracelet and watch from jewelry box add a pair of silver hoops.
Flash hits….take off dress… turn on fan…
Cool off, open closet, grab sandals and purse…
Wipe forehead…
put dress and belt back on…
Flash hits!
Take off belt, peel away the dress and unzip sandals… throw everything onto the floor!
Open closet, take out brown, floral skirt and green short sleeve top, both also thrifted from Goodwill. Remove black and white necklace and replace with brown beaded one.
Flash hits!
Stand still in front of the fan…take off shoes….bracelet, watch and earrings…start makeup…stop
grab brown bracelet and find a pair of sandals…kick black Gladiators back into the closet…
Change ring and watch…plug in curling iron…
Look into full length mirror and see a stuffed sausage….pull off shirt, skirt and kick off shoes, throw everything on top of hamper…
Go back into closet, look up…look left…pull down peasant mid-length dress, look down…find another pair of sandals from the Shoe Dept….
Pat forehead, hurry and try to quickly finish curling hair, which BTW won’t hold a curl…hurry hurry before another flash hits!
Complete makeup…look into closet to find another purse…turn off curling iron…
Check the mirror
Kick shoes out of the way…turn off the fan and leave bathroom
45 minutes late to work!

2 Tone Tuesday and the Weekend WrapUp
Hello friends, I hope all is well is your world. Today’s OOTD is entitled “2 Tone Tuesday” and it’s obvious as to why. However, not only are my shoes 2-tone but check out the necklace, albeit it’s not exactly a 2-tone necklace, there are two different necklaces.
This is something that I had never done before but had seen so many other fashionistas doing it, so I said, ‘hey, what the heck”, this is my version, so what do you think?
The Peplum top and geometric skirt are both from JC Penney and I love pairing them together, I also have the Peplum top in green which you may remember when I wore it with this skirt last season.
Did you have a nice weekend? Mine went by quickly, but I finally got the pool opened which took longer than expected. Our neighbor’s tree fell into it during a June storm and it wasn’t removed until July 11th!
You need to check out my Instagram page to see how it went from being a slimy green mess to gorgeous crystal clear, use the hashtag #poolmaintenance to view the sequence.
Unfortunately, the pressure washer didn’t work so I couldn’t clean around it. I just purchased it last year from Home Depot so you know I will be contacting them for service or a replacement!
My son and I went to the New Castle County’s Dancing in the Park event on Saturday evening and it was packed with families, fun and lots of food trucks. I took a few videos and some pics so check out my Facebook page to see some of the dancing and food vendors.
Hubby had an okay weekend, it was the first one after his chemo treatment. He is sensitive to cold and was a bit tired on Friday with muscle aches, but overall he is doing well. I am extremely proud of him and how he is dealing with his health.
My youngest and I took over the yard work chores, mowing the lawn and trimming hedges, which made me realize just how much I am not going to miss it! #Roadtrip to Retirement
Did you do anything fun this weekend?
I do hope that you enjoy the rest of your day and stay blessed…oh by the way don’t forget to check out the latest posts on Blogging With Blake

Hello friends, I hope all is well in your world. Last Saturday night while watching a SNL rerun, with Kevin Hart as the host, which by the way was hilarious, I found a few OOTD pics that I had forgotten to post.
This is one of the maxi dresses that I had purchased from Ross Dress for Less while shopping for a vacation wardrobe. I love Ross Dress for Less prices which makes it difficult to not purchase more than I’ve intended to do, which is why this one was just one of four!
Have you checked out Ross Dress for Less this season?
I like this particular maxi dress because of the color and pattern, which can easily transition into the Fall season. I’ll probably add a blazer or cardigan, a pair of kitten heel pumps and then be ready for whatever Mother Nature decides to throw her way on that particular day.
Are maxi dresses part of your summer to fall wardrobe?
I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

Hello friends and welcome to Sunday Stylin.
I hope you remembered this feature from last year, but if not, that’s okay because I almost forgot about it myself! I try to get to church at least once per month, and before you start telling me that’s not enough, trust me I already know because I can still hear my grandmother’s voice:
‘when I don’t go to church, I feel like I’m committing a crime!
Actually this was an extra special Sunday because my oldest son Tayair went with me. The congregation was in awe as to how much he had grown and matured, Malik on the other hand went to the beach with his buds!
I don’t “make” my sons attend church with me as they converted to Islam many years ago and go to the Mosque with their father. However, every once in a while I do like having them go with me, being flanked by two almost-grown men is humbling to a mom!
I still remember taking them as young boys and now they both tower over me…it’s actually kinda funny. Anywho, I wore this sleeveless black and white dress with a bolero jacket because I like to keep my arms covered in church. It along with the Charmingly Charlie purse were thrifted and the statement necklace is from Walmart.
The bracelet is Avon and the shoes are Rocket Dog peep toe pumps from The Shoe Dept and it was a perfect outfit for Sunday in the Sanctuary.
Do you make it to church every Sunday?
I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

Hello friends and welcome to another episode of You Choose the Shoes. Today’s outfit was for a casual Friday as you know I don’t normally wear pants to work. These black and white ones were purchased from Walmart #WearWalmart and the sleeveless top was a purchase from either TJMaxx or Ross.
The contenders for this week are Red & White Gingham versus the Simply Red wedges both of which are from Payless.
The bracelet is Old Navy, statement necklace, Walmart and watch from Avon. Which pair do you like better with the printed pants, the pattern or is that too busy?
Perhaps the pop of brighter red looked better?
What do you think?
Thanks for all the votes from last week and for the first time it was a tie!
I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

Hello friends and welcome to You Choose the Shoes Season 2 – Episode 10
Last month before we left for vacation hubby and I shot two sets of You Choose the shoes episodes and so we will begin this week with the flats verses wedges.
I love this maxi skirt and striped tank which were both purchased from Walmart and I bet by now are on the clearance racks. So if you are looking to add to your summer wardrobe, may I suggest you head over there with a quickness.
Now take a look at the outfit and let me know which pair of shoes you would have chosen to wear with it.
The belt is a thrifted find from Goodwill and I think the necklace is also from Walmart. #WearWalmart
The flats are from Rainbow Shops and the wedges were purchased years ago from Kmart. Right now both of these stores are having great clearance sales so you can really dress for less!
What do you think, I know it should be about comfort but believe it or not, the wedges are more comfortable than the flats, however, when it comes to driving, it’s better to wear flats.
Take one more look at both and let me know which pair you would have chosen for this outfit.
I hope your day is as beautiful as you are!

Never too old for short sets and sneakers!
Growing up in Mt. Vernon and New Rochelle, New York, during the 60s, summer was the best time of the year. School was out and there was always a parade, picnic or block party to attend. We had a lot of friends and family who was always getting together to eat, drink or just play games.
After cleaning the apartment, we would run up to North Avenue to see the annual parade. My grandmother always bought my sister and I matching red, white and blue outfits and we dressed as if we were twins. Only a little over a year apart we could actually could pass for twins because everyone thought of us as ‘Toni and Gloria‘ never just one or the other.
Catching a bus to go shopping at Korvettes in the Bronx was definitely one of the best memories I have from childhood. My grandmother couldn’t afford to get us the best sneakers but trying on the ones in the big bins attached with a stretchy string was fun.
Shuffling around the store in too big sneakers didn’t bother us as all, you see my grandmother didn’t believe it buying shoes or sneakers that fit, they had to be larger so that we could grow into them. A little toilet paper stuffed in the toes worked fine for us.
Now that both my sister and grandmother are gone, those summer memories are even more special. Having recently purchased a short set and sneakers from Rainbow Shops had my mind and heart filled with with those wonderful childhood memories and no matter how old we get, somethings never change.
No matter my age, I am never too old for a short set & sneakers!
Happy 4th of July Holiday my friends…now go make some memories!
P.S. Don’t forget the sunscreen!

Mother’s Day Maxi
Hello friends, I hope all is well in your world. This is a throwback to last month and Mother’s Day. Although my youngest wasn’t able to be home, he did call me at the crack of noon to say, “Happy Mother’s Day” before going back to bed…aah the life of a college student.
Anywho, Tayair and I took our traditional Mother’s Day pictures under my grandmother’s favorite tree which was in full bloom. Although we didn’t go out for brunch, hubby did make a great dinner and took these cute pics of me in my Mother’s Day Maxi.
Yes, he said something inappropriate…and I liked it!
This Jersey Knit maxi was hanging in the closet with the tags still on it. I found it on the clearance rack at Target last year. #dressforless
The belt was thrifted from Goodwill
And for once….no shoes!
What did you wear on Mother’s Day?
