If you recall in a previous post in which I talked about de-cluttering my closets then you would have realized that I have more than one, as a matter of fact, I have racks of clothes in both the guest bedroom as well as in the basement.
I started de-cluttering the basement racks first and donated several boxes of items back to Goodwill most of which were initially thrifted and then I moved on to the guest bedroom closet.
I still haven’t done my walk in closet, the one that I mentioned makes me nervous every time I open the door. I am not in such a rush especially since I can put together an outfit from items for the other closets. This outfit was actually saved from being donated, the multi-color top was in the basement and the green maxi skirt was in the guest bedroom and together they made an appearance on a cool crisp Autumn day.
The colors of the purse, purple and green was a perfect accessory for the outfit and it along with the necklace were also thrifted new from Goodwill. Believe it or not, I haven’t been thrifting in several months simply because I don’t need anything, nor do I have any room on the racks!
The tan wedge sandals weren’t thrifted, but were on sale at Kmart when I purchased them several years ago and they are very comfortable. I also bought them in black but had to order them online as they didn’t carry them in the stores.
The weather is still up and down here in Delaware so next week’s outfit will feature the black cap sleeve dress which was perfect for the Bloggers Night at the Grub Burger Bar event that I attended on last Thursday.
Are you listening to my Podcasts on Sunday? If not, you should because they will be some Giveaway Promotions going on as we head into the new year. Social Media Sunday with the Delaware Blogger is every Sunday at 6 pm on Blog Talk Radio with AAU Teen Talk Radio.
Which closet do you dread cleaning out the most, your clothes closet, the kid’s closet or the coat closet?

A few weeks ago I attended a networking event at the Blue Ball Barn in Wilmington which was sponsored by the Women’s Business Center. If you follow me on Instagram you would have seen several pics and a Flipgram of the highlights.
To my amazement I was chosen the winner of the Best Dressed Outfit and for that received a $25 Gift Certificate to Primo Hoagies. If you’ve ever had a Primo Hoagie then you know that they are delicious! My outfit was put together with new and old pieces which included an upcycled maxi skirt and it was ironic that the DeDivah – Fashion and Fun After Fifty won the award!
The skirt was actually a maxi dress that I cut the bodice off to refashion into a skirt which you can read about in this post. The necklace was thrifted a few years ago from Goodwill and I probably picked up the bracelet at Ross or Marshalls. The purse is a closet staple and I love it because it’s large enough to carry everything I need for networking events including my camera and selfie stick.
The cute booties and hat were purchased from TJ Maxx and I was lucky to find the hat on clearance for only ten bucks. I immediately feel in love with the fringed booties and for only $29.99, you know I had to snatch them up for the Fall.
The Peasant Blouse and Crochet Vest were both purchased from Walmart and since they are new arrivals there were several colors of each available. If you check your local Walmart store I am sure that you will probably find a nice selection of each.
I had a great time at the Saddle Up for Business Event and I want to congratulate all the women and men who have worked hard on achieving their goals of starting a small business in Delaware. These events are always morale boosters for me as I get ABlake Enterprises off the ground and where it should be in accordance to my goals and plans.
So what do you think, was this an award winning outfit?

No, I didn’t wear my birthday suit on my 55th birthday which was September 20th, but I did want to show you what I did wear during my birthday week.
This black and white stripped dress with a bit of blue is very flattering one of which I think was purchased at Ross Dress for Less. I chose to wear with my sandals from Sears, remember when I posted these on Instagram?
On Wednesday I attended a Networking Event at the Chase Center on the Riverfront and wore this black and beige dress from Avon. I had a great time posing with the cutouts of the various candidates. Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders and of course our current Vice President Joe Biden.
The beige pumps are Chinese Laundry purchased from DSW and check out the beige purse on the ground – it was thrifted new from Goodwill!
On Thursday, I wore this black and white maxi skirt – do you see a pattern here – yes, I love the classic black and white combo. Thursday was also the night that we put together the Swag Bags for KalediscopeDE and I wasn’t the only one who wore a black and white skirt.
It was definitely a great birthday week and I am looking for a wonderful year. Now I can let you in on my secret which I posted about on a Facebook Livestream on Friday. I have been invited to collaborate with Chadwick’s of Boston and Metrostyle so stay tuned for the next few outfits which will feature clothing and accessories from both of these fantastic companies.
In case you missed Social Media Sunday with the Delaware Blogger broadcast on Sunday, here is the link as it was a great segment with my guest, Nikki Valentine who is a fashion designer and stylist.
Obviously sleeveless was the call of the week but now it’s sweater weather. Have you transitioned your wardrobe yet?

Hello friends and welcome to another episode of You Choose the Shoes. It has been exactly one month since the last feature but as I previously stated, things have gotten a lot more busier with ABlake Enterprises so #YCTS will become a once per month post.
With this outfit I am featuring an “oldie but goodie” pair of slip-ons by Jessica Simpson and a new pair from Avon which I think you may like.
It was a sunny Sunday early in April so my son and I decided to drive the Kia Sorento that I was reviewing from DriveShop through town. He actually didn’t want to hang out with his mother, but obliged me if only for an hour. Hubby took these pictures before we left and then he and I headed out for part of the day.
The yellow tote is also from Avon and the Statement Necklace was purchased from Walmart.
Speaking of Avon, I received an email from them wishing me a Happy 6th Anniversary, however, it has definitely been longer than 6 years because I remember that I started selling in the early 2000’s, but according to their records it has only been 6 years.
Anywho, since I don’t have many customers and don’t make a profit I guess it doesn’t matter how many years I have been with Avon. I do however, like buying Avon’s clothing, shoes and accessories so I will stick around for at least another 6 years.
What do you think of my latest purchase?
I should do more pattern mixing but am not very comfortable in doing so, however, I think this worked, what do you think?
Okay, which pair of shoes do you like with this maxi skirt?
The most popular pair from last month were the strappy sandals.

Midweek BohoChic
If there is one style that never seems to go out of style that would be Boho Chic.
Made popular in the 60s and 70s, when Afros, Dashikis, block parties, outdoor concerts and free love was all the rage, this comfy casual look was perfect for the times. Now that we boomers have grown and matured, we still love the free spirit style of this casual attire. Generation X Y and Millennials are also loving Boho Chic so we can all expect it to be around for quite a long time.
The tie dye maxi skirt has been in my closet for years, I believe it was a purchase from Ross Dress for Less. This time I chose to wear it with a thrifted sleeveless tank, other times I have also worn it belted.
Accessories that include an oversize ring, wooden multi color bangles, wooden watch, wood heels sandals and necklace along with a sloppy ‘boho bag’ completes the Boho Chic look.
Do you have a favorite Boho Chic outfit?
If you can find tie dye clothing, make it yourself!

Hello Friends and Happy Hump Day Wednesday!
The winner of last week’s “You Choose The Shoes”
Gray Nine West
The choices for this week are either the Dollhouse Peep-Toe Wedge shoes from Ross or the L.e.i. studded sandals from Walmart.
The skirt was purchased from Old Navy and the top was a Mother’s Day gift from my sons years ago from J.C. Penney. It was actually the first time they made a purchase without any assistance from hubby, and I think they did a great job.
It was a little chilly last week so I wore this light gray cardigan purchased from Boscov’s.
Okay, are you ready to choose?
Which pair complimented the outfit better?
This week’s winner will be announced in next week’s post – thank you all for participating in this fun feature!

Hello Friends and Happy Goodwill Wednesday!
I wore this end-of-the-season outfit in March, but with all the activity at the end of the month I didn’t get a chance to post it. This is officially the last of the winter wardrobe pics because today it’s going to be 70 degrees…time for a pedicure because the boots have been put away!
Everything was thrifted from Goodwill at different times and from different locations so it was fun putting it all together.
Even though I wore a short sleeve blouse, there was still a slight chill in the air so I opted to wear the brown suede jacket which was also thrifted.
Of the entire thrifted outfit, I like this unique thick belt the best, what do you think?
Remember how excited I was to finally find a pair of Riding Boots, and to find them new at Goodwill for only $18.99 was awesome. The hooks on the back gave them an edgier look which made it a better thrifted find.
Now it’s time to go through my closets and purge items that I did not wear last season or were much too tight thanks to menopausal weight gain or perhaps too much winter wine. Anywho, whatever I find will be re-donated back to Goodwill which is the best part of thrifting.
Today I’m linking up with one of my favorite thriftinistas over at ColorBlind and then I’ll swing by to see DC Goodwill Fashionista so if you get a chance, come on over and check out their thrifty finds.

Hello Friends and Happy Hump Day Wednesday
My husband usually takes an interest in what I wear to work, even though he complains that I have too many clothes. Our schedules overlap with him leaving before I wake, and when I get home he’s downstairs working out and I’m anxious to change. On Sunday when he asked what I had chosen I reluctantly said, “pants, because of the snow”, he knows I prefer to wear dresses and skirts to work and jeans or pants on the weekends. Most if not all of my skirts are thrifted, they are the first things I look for at Goodwill.
Even though it’s the winter season and we are dealing with snowstorms and extreme temperatures I still like wearing skirts to work and will simply layer up with tights, boots and sometimes even Long Johns!
Faux Suede Boots // Rugged Wearhouse
Animal Print Maxi Skirt – Goodwill
Of course I’ll wear a long coat but I am quite comfortable in a skirt during the winter.
How about you ladies, do you wear dresses and skirts in the winter?
I Feel Pretty warm in my boots as does Alison, so come on over and join in on her Link Up today.

Hello Friends and Happy Hump Day Wednesday
I trust your week is going well and all is good in your neighborhood! When I decided to wear this maxi skirt the first thing I noticed was how beautifully the colors transitioned from Summer to Fall.
Although there is still plenty of snow left on the ground or at least on my back deck, the winds were mild enough so my legs didn’t get too cold. The longer sweater and booties also kept me warm so perhaps this skirt will make another appearance during a winter month (with tights and over-the-knee boots).
This sweater was actually a Christmas gift that my hubby gave to my grandmother over 10 years ago. I’ve always loved the color and the length as well as the crocheted cowl neck collar.
The beige booties were purchased a few seasons ago at Rugged Wearhouse and are quite comfortable, more so than the brown ones that I gave away last week on Instagram. If you don’t follow, you should because I will be giving away more in the near future. #payitforward
Here I tried to re-create the #myessence photo, so what do you think, which season did I wear it better?
I know you are busy but if you get a chance hop over to Alison’s blog and “Get Your Pretty On!” this wonderful Wednesday.
Have a blessed day and don’t forget to share it – Smooches!

Hello friends, I hope you had a nice weekend and was able to do something special with the extra hour on Sunday.
As you know, I’ve been on a mini self-imposed shopping freeze so I didn’t need to…but I wanted to…therefore, I did! I thawed the freeze just a bit and this is the result of a mini thrifted haul from GW Boutique in Newark! It was my first time at this location on the campus of The University of Delaware, but it definitely will not be my last.
You can never have too many skirts!
I am a proud, card carrying Goodwill VIP
This thrifted haul cost less than $20 and it even included a Graduation Gown that my son wore to a Halloween party last weekend
(he better be wearing a real one in May!)
I love love love this Talbots Floral Skirt – $3.75
J Crew Grey Skirt Skirt – $3.75
JCPenney Worthington Suede Maxi Skirt – $3.75
You know I couldn’t pass on these polka dot capris – $3.75
What do you think?
Have you done any Fall thrifting?
Linking up today with Thrifters Anonymous so come on over and meet some other great thriftanistas.
Have a fantabulous day – Smooches!
