Sunday Stylin Roundup
Hello friends and welcome to another week of Sunday Stylin Roundup. The last two weeks of summer were fantastic in Delaware, as a matter of fact the entire summer season was fantastic and Autumn is starting out just as nice.
The four outfits being featured this week include a lot of black, but who doesn’t have a lot of black in their closets?
In this outfit there is a mix of black, beige and steel grey. The skirt is JCPenney, tank and shoes are thrifted and purse is from Burlington Coat Factory. The choker has been in my jewelry box for a long time, as a matter of fact, I believe it once belonged to my grandmother.
I hadn’t done much shopping during the summer, however, this dress was one that I did buy at Ross. The Buddha Bag was purchased last year during Shop Small Business Saturday, and the Mia heels are from The Shoe Dept in the Exton Mall. The necklace was a Flea market find and the bracelet was $1.25 from Burlington Coat Factory.
Leaves falling on the pool deck made for a perfect backdrop for this Blue by the Pool outfit. This is another skirt from JCPenney, top from Marshall’s and I won the necklace from a fellow blogger. The thrifted beige pumps and bracelet from Old Navy completes the look.
I love turquoise blue – how about you?
In the last outfit you can tell that the temperatures are beginning to change as did my wardrobe. I will be wearing more long sleeves, blazers and cardigans so I spent more than 6 hours last Saturday in my closet, check out these before and after pics.
Unfortunately, I still have the spare bedroom to clear out – I had bags and bags of items to be donated to Goodwill – “Donate Stuff Create Jobs!”
I am not ready to cover my tootsies or wear tights, so I will continue wearing peep-toe shoes until the first snow fall.
How about you, are you ready to pull on the boots or shop for more summer styles? If you want to shop for more, go check out the sales at Shoedazzle or the BUY ONE GET ONE FREE SALE at JustFAB
Which outfit did you like the best?

Not Officially Named Hog Heaven Thrift Shop
“Not offically named Hog Heaven” which by the way is what they call it because they haven’t officially named it, is located on 510 Lancaster Avenue, Frazer PA and is open Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 10-6. The thrift shop is so new that I had to add it to my Foursquare check in.
Upon entering this cash only shop I was immediately transported back to my “Cousin Bessie’s” house in Port Chester, NY. It’s like walking into your grandma’s or auntie’s living room and parlor. You remember the rooms that you were not allowed to enter because of all the glass knick knacks.
As a small child you couldn’t help but be amazed as your senses were overwhelmed by the colorful candy dishes, pictures, pottery, dolls, cups with saucers and an array of bric-a’-brac displayed throughout the room
This shop is truly a thrifter’s paradise and as we “oohed and aahed” looking at the little trinkets on display I couldn’t keep from laughing with the thought that I too have several similar pieces at home, just not enough to open my own thrift shop. (hubby might disagree).
The living room and parlor contained so many vintage items that it brought back fond memories of my childhood growing up, there was even a scrubbing board. The lovely shopkeeper, Donna was such a pleasant person and she introduced us to Ms. Lilly Langtry, a transplant from Jersey!
Donate Stuff, Create Jobs | Goodwill and The Ad Council
Most of you know that hubby will retiring this summer after 32+ years of service with the State of Delaware. Although he will be leaving the School District he won’t be leaving the workforce…at least not entirely. He may not know where the next phase of life will take him, he does vow not to have to wear a suit and tie again.
So with a closet full of them, where will they go after my sons have raided his closet, the answer is simple, they will be donated to Goodwill. Hubby may be leaving his job, but in donating his suits, ties, suspenders and shoes he will be helping to create jobs for others.
Using this online Goodwill Donation Calculator we can determine just how much our donations will be helping the community. For example, one man’s suit will provide 14 minutes of resume preparation and a pair of shoes will provide 19 minutes of the same.
Try it out for yourself as you pack up your donations.
You may not be leaving a job, but if your spring cleaning includes clearing out a cluttered closet to make room for more stuff, pack it up and donate it to Goodwill.
I’ll be the first to admit it, but hubby isn’t the only person that needs to clean out their closet…mine is due for some serious purging…need to make room for new shoes!
For more information on just how your donations work, check out this “How We Do It” PSA.

I Got it @Goodwill | Last Day of Winter
Hello Friends and Happy Goodwill Wednesday!
This week’s thrifted outfit was worn on St. Patrick’s Day and it snowed! However, instead of complaining, I was glad as it was the perfect weather in which to wear a maxi skirt and riding boots because tomorrow is the first day of Spring!
Not wanting to hear my son complain about it being too cold, even though he is on the inside taking the pictures, I stayed indoors for these pics.
The riding boots were purchased at the Goodwill store in Exton, PA and are the most expensive item that I’ve ever thrifted. For me, they were still a bargain at $18.99 because they were new and tagged at $39.99, which is way under the $50, which I was prepared to spend this winter.
Both the faux suede maxi skirt and wrap top were thrifted for $3.75 each.
Necklace | Flea Market Find // Watch | Avon
Ring | Payless // Bracelet | Michael’s
This week’s thrifted outfit was $26.49, but still a bargain, what do you think?
Now you know, I had to have at least one picture outdoors! I hope you all had a wonderful St. Patrick’s Day and are enjoying this Hump Day Wednesday.
I am linking up with Whitney Nic James, Thrifters Anonymous and then stopping by to visit DC Goodwill Fashionista.

Weekend Wind-Down Party #9
Hello Friends and Happy Fri-Yay!
This month is running wild and flying by way too quickly, there has been a whirlwind of activity in my life and that’s not even including the last snowstorm of the season. (fingers crossed) All of it has definitely been wonderful and exciting, some I can speak about, others not just yet, but it’s all good news!
- I lost my 2005 Hyundai Sonata due to engine failure and replaced her with a 2010 Hyundai Accent.
- Hubby completed his retirement paperwork, so on July 1st, he will officially be retired from the State of Delaware – congrats, I’ll give you the “honey-do” list on the 1st of August, a few weeks before our 24th Wedding Anniversary.
- The 2014 Goodwill Runway Show was fantastic, I hope you had an opportunity to read the post, if not, click here. I twisted my ankle a few hours before the event and had to change shoes 3 times, but thankfully, it wasn’t worse and I made it through the night with a smile!
- On Tuesday I taught a Blogging 101 Class which is sponsored by The Money School of Delaware and there were some awesome attendees whose participation was great.
Tomorrow the temps are expected to reach the upper 50’s, so if you are getting a jump on your Spring Wardrobe don’t forget to enter to win a $50 Gift Certificate to Midnight Velvet.
Now, let’s get this party started!

2014 Goodwill Runway Show
Hello Friends and Happy Hump Day Wednesday
Last Friday night at The Sheraton South in Wilmington, Goodwillde presented it’s 4th annual Runway Show and Boutique. Prior to the event, the lobby was filled with food, friendly faces and fantastic finds in the 2nd Hand Chic Boutique.
The Second-hand Chic Boutique had fabulous clothing, shoes and accessories for less, and many items for men, women and children. These one of a kind, name brand items were hand-picked by Goodwill store managers and Runway stylists. A few of the brands included Ann Taylor Loft, Coach, and Marc Jacobs.
There was clothing, jewelry and accessories galore.
Attendees who posted to Facebook or tweeted @Goodwillde were eligible to win two VIP tickets to next year’s Runway Show.
After hair, makeup and a light lunch we were all ready to present a fantastic Runway Show.
Here are just a few of the highlights during the hair and make up sessions provided by students from Paul Mitchell The School of Delaware.
Frolicking, fun and photo bombing behind the scenes made for a super charged and highly energized Runway Show!
Music was provided by 93.7 WSTW and Wakeup Crew Nancy Johnson and Spencer Graves were the evening’s hosts.
Audience participation and sponsorship by Bridget A. Erhard, CFP, Growth Inc., Wilmington University and WSTW made for a wonderful Runway Show with proceeds benefiting education scholarships for Goodwill employees.
This was my first year as a Stylist for the Goodwillde Runway Show and it was an exciting and amazing event for which I was very proud to be a part of!
Thank you all for supporting Goodwill!
Additional photos can be found at the Goodwillde website and tomorrow on Whitney Nic James’ Blog

2014 Goodwill Runway Show
Hello Friends and Happy Last FriYay!
Bye-Bye February, pack up your snow gear and get to steppin, and don’t cha come back no more!
(well maybe same time next year, just keep those flurries at home)
By the time you read this, I’ll be enroute to the Sheraton Hotel in New Castle, Delaware deeply involved in the final preparations for tonight’s 2014 Goodwill Runway Show!
We have been preparing for this big event since last November and it has been both fun and exciting working with my models. Here are just a few pics of our shopping trips and rehearsals leading up to tonight’s show.
I wish you all could be there to see the actual Runway Show, but look out for the highlights next week!

I Got it @Goodwill
Hello Friends and Happy Hump Day Wednesday!
Today’s totally thrifted outfit with the exception of the shoes was purchased at Goodwill. Each piece was purchased separately from a Goodwill store either in Middletown or Smyrna.
In my mind I saw this outfit fitting differently, but hubby said it looked okay, so I stayed with it. The sweater, top, and skirt were $3.75 each but I bought them during the 20% off sale, paying only $3.00 each, and the belt was 80 cents. #winning
The suede pumps are Chinese Laundry, purchased from DSW, and off-black pantyhose from Walmart.
I thought about using a different style belt, however, it wasn’t until I got to work that I decided to change the way I wore the belt. I put it around the top and not the sweater which made me feel and look less bulky.
What do you think, which way would you have worn it?
After work I met up with one of the 2014 Goodwill Runway Show models and found these Nine West booties which now makes this outfit totally thrifted.
You never know what you might find at your local Goodwill, look what I saw before leaving.
Unfortunately, they were a size 7, too small for my feet and at $250.00, were too big for my purse.
Today I am linking up with Whitney Nic James for her Snow Day OOTD and ColorBlind Thrifters Anonymous pick of the week.

Hello Friends and Happy Hump Day Wednesday!
Tonight is the night…is the night…is the night…for another major SNOWSTORM – gotta love it right – NOPE! I don’t think the Robin’s in our neighborhood believes it either because they have been flying around enjoying the sun-filled days. I truly feel in my heart of hearts that this will be the last big winter snow storm of the season, what do you think?
One good thing about this month is every Sunday all adult winter clothing is just $2.00 and children’s clothing only $1.00 at Goodwill stores in Delaware and Delaware County. Last Sunday I had to meet up with one of the Runway models, so I took advantage of the day to stock up on more sweaters, seems like I’ll get a chance to wear them all in this never ending cold winter weather.
This Merona from Target colorblock sweater wasn’t part of the sale because it was new with tags, but when I saw it I grabbed it. I knew it would compliment a skirt that was previously thrifted and each piece cost only $3.75. What do you think?
Yes, I am wearing peep-toe booties in the snow! They are attention brand by Kmart, purchased a few years ago and no my toes are not cold (Miss Terri).
I couldn’t pass up this $2.00 Elizabeth Arden tote because it was the perfect size to carry to work. It’s roomy enough to hold my camera case and lunch bag as well as anything else I might need for the day AND the color – perfectly matches the outfit!! #winning
I don’t know about you, but I simply love finding these thrifted treasures and each week I’ll feature a different sweater as long as the weather holds out so that might be until June!
Today, I’m linking up with 3 of my favorite thriftinistas, Whitney Nic James, ColorBlind and DC Goodwill Fashionista. If you haven’t checked out these ladies, may I suggest you do as they too feature some awesome thrifted finds.
Oh, and if you are looking to jazz up your winter wardrobe by adding a pop of color, check out the flash sale over at * Hannah Jane’s Boutique. 15 colorful skinny belts originally $12.99 are on sale for only $5.99 with FREE shipping by using the code BELT50 at checkout. Deal runs through Friday, February 14, click link on the sidebar for more information.
Stay warm and safe during the storm and we’ll chat tomorrow.
